Articles: The Gap Has Found Their Solutions
Tek Gel™ for Profiling gelled acid product was selected as the surface preparation for the floor of the new Art Gallery at the GAP Corporate Headquarters building located at 250 Embarcadero in San Francisco, CA. Tek Gel™ for Profiling gelled acid is produced and sold by Surface Gel Tek, LLC as an alternative to sandblasting or acid etching to prepare concrete surfaces.
Don Fischer, owner of the GAP wanted the look of a 30-year-old garage floor, Swinerton & Walberg, the general contractor tested a variety of methods the achieve the desired look. There were a number of considerations limiting the selected process such as a closed enviroment, painted walls, product disposal and limited access to water.
The Profiler™ gelled acid was selected as the preferred product due to its controlled depth, ease of application and superior finished look. The applicator, J & R Flooring, refined the application technique required to gel final approval. Once the floor was prepared, a clear water based penetrating sealer was applied directly to the floor as a finished product. The end result was approved overwhelmingly by owner, architect and the general contractor.
